Anbar province is located in the western
part of Iraq , its boarders are as follows:

From the north Salahuddin,
Nineveh and Syria. |
|
From the east the capital Baghdad. |
|
From the west Syria and
Jordan. |
|
From the south Karbala, Najaf and Saudi
Arabia kingdom. |
|
The total area of Anbar is 140,000 km2
equivalent to 1/3 of the total area of Iraq
as shown in Fig. (1) and (2) |

Population : |
|
The
population of Anbar is estimated ( 1,500,000
) or approximately 5.71% of Iraqi
population.
Number of the working power is 772,000 Fig.

The administrative arrangement of the
province is shown in Fig.4 they are as follow: |

Ramadi
:
|
 |
|
It is regarded the administrative
center of the province . the
distance between Ramadi and Baghdad
( the capital ) is 110 km to the
west . commercial, agricultural,
tourist and industrial activities
are concentrated in Ramadi. It has
the more population in the province. |

|
Fallujah : |
 |
|
It is about 60 km to the east of
Ramadi and 45 km west of Baghdad. It
is located in the communications
center of the international line so
it is adequate to be center for the
commercial exchanging. In addition
to that Fallujah is industrial city
that offers the technical workers.
It is a tourist city because it is
near to Habbaniya lake. |

Heet : |
 |
|
It is about 70
km far from Ramadi center to the
west. It has historic depth ,
located on the shoulders of
Euphrates. It has distinguished
agricultural lands. Kubaisa cement
factory is located within its
administrative borders. |

Haditha :
|
 |
|
It is about 160 km
far from Ramadi center at the west
along Euphrates. Haditha dam which
offers water storage is located in
Haditha city. It uses in
agricultural, generating electric
power and fishing , so it is
suitable for tourism , animal ,
agricultural production . in
addition to a small refinery . |

Ana :
|
 |
|
It is about 200 km far from Ramadi center at
the west along Euphrates. It is well known
city in the ancient civilization. It is
famous with its historic tower that belongs
to the Abbasian age. |

Ra’awa : |
|
It is about 220 km far from Ramadi center to
the west. It is agricultural area in
addition to big mineral quarries in the
city. It is very attractive city locating on
high hill surrounded by Euphrates from three
directions. It is the gate of the western
area to Nineveh province and Aljazeera
desert with fertile pastures. It is
connected with Mousil city by direct land
way. |

Al Qa’yem : |
 |
|
It is about 350 km far from Ramadi
center to the west. It is located
near the Syrian borders. It is
regarded as industrial center due to
phosphate factory and Al Qa’yem
cement factory in addition to Akkaz
gas field. It has also quarries of
different raw minerals. |

Rutba : |
 |
|
It is about
300 km far from Ramadi center to the
west. It is located in the desert.
It is about 150 km far from Syrian
and Jordanian borders along the
international highway which
connecting Jordan, Syria and Iraq.
It is distinguished by commercial
location in addition to the
different raw minerals in the city. |

The scientific state : |
|
there is one university in Anbar including
about 10,000 students in different
specializations , like education , sciences
, dentistry , engineering , agriculture ,
administration , economy , computers , art
and law . there is technical institute in
Saqlawiya including about 1,000 students
distributed in 9 scientific and
administrative sections. There is 260
secondary schools, 16 professional (
industrial and commercial ) schools and 4
teachers institutes. |

Communication net : |
|
there are huge local
roads connecting districts ( kattha’a ) and
sub districts ( nahiya ) of the province in
addition to highways connecting the province
with the neighboring provinces. The highway
that direct from Baghdad is passing through
Fallujah – Ramadi – Rutba to Tenef on Iraqi
– Syrian borders and also to Trebeel on
Iraqi – Jordanian borders.
A branch from the
highway ( expressway ) at km 160 directed to
Ar’ar on Iraqi – Saudian borders. There is
new railway connected the province with the
other provinces to transfer persons and
goods.
There are many
locations in the province that could be
developed to civilian airport in the
province. |

The economic states : |
|
The strategic line for
the cruder oil runs in the province, existing of the civilian states belonging
to the old Ankoor refinery and the need of the local market to the oil products
are encouraging to construct oil refinery in the area.
Existing of Akkaz gas field in the western area in Al Qa’yem in big strategic
storage not exploited yet helps to construct various transformations factories ,
in addition to the ability to build stations for generating electric power to
cover the big lack in the province. |
